De 24-jarige Teun Toebes heeft een missie: de levenskwaliteit van mensen met dementie verbeteren. Hij woont al jaren op de gesloten afdeling van een verpleeghuis als hij besluit deze missie naar een hoger plan te tillen. Tijdens een reis rond de wereld onderzoekt hij samen met zijn goede vriend en filmmaker Jonathan de Jong hoe in andere landen wordt omgegaan met dementie en wat we van elkaar kunnen leren om de toekomst te verbeteren. Nu het aantal mensen met dementie de komende 20 jaar verdubbelt (in 2040: 81 miljoen mensen wereldwijd) is deze zoektocht geen vraag, maar een noodzaak.
